Looks Matter – Design And Aesthetics Comparison

Both these machines are part of the Keurig 2.0 lineup. Thus they have several features that are common to the wider Keurig 2.0 umbrella. 

In a comparison of design and aesthetics, both these models are pretty close, though there are some differences. They’re both good looking machines and have a useful, modern design that will go well with any kitchen.

Both these coffee makers have the same dimensions at 13.2” H x 10.5” W x 13.3” D. That’s interesting because we’d expect the K575 to be slightly bigger. That’s because the 575 has an 80 oz water reservoir, compared to the 70 oz reservoir on the K475.

Overall, the looks are pretty similar, with buttons and controls placed at the same spot for both models. However, the K575 has a slightly larger screen. Another feature that makes the distinction between both models easy is the presence of the night light. The K575 has a nightlight that can be set up in several colors.

I believe that the differences like the slight change in water capacity don’t really change much for most end-users. However, the night light is a nice touch. Yup, it feels quite superfluous, but the night light has its uses and looks pretty cool. The ability to change colors to suit your preferences is a huge plus.

Intuitive Touch Screen And Controls

Both models have touch screen controls. How these controls and screens behave is different on each model and worthy of being included in our review. Keurig K 475 has a 2.4-inch color touch screen for its controls. Meanwhile, the Keurig K575 has a 2.8-inch XL color touch display. 

Another useful option here is the customizable wallpaper. It’s a small touch, but it really makes the Keurig K575 stand out. It’s these small customizations that we can make that truly make the coffee maker our own. 

Of course, it is just a cosmetic change, but it is undeniably effective and presents an interesting outlook. Put it together with the customizable night light, and you’ve got a pretty good combo.

The screens on both models are fairly responsive and easy to navigate. You can move to your choice of brew or brew size fairly easily.

Brewing Settings Add More Variety And Fun

Going through the control settings, you can select your brew and brew size of choice. Keurig 2.0 K475 plus can brew K cups, K mugs, and K carafe pods. The same goes for the K575. The available sizes for these beverages range from 4 oz to 30 oz, which fits all the different kinds of pods that work with these machines.

More specifically, the available brew sizes are 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz, 10 oz, 12 oz, 14 oz, 16 oz, 22 oz, 26 oz, and 30 oz. Oddly enough, though they can both brew a carafe, none of these machines comes with the K-carafe. You’ll have to spend extra money on that one.

However, that is more of a wasted effort. Keurig has already discontinued the K mug and K carafe pods. If you want to brew one of those, it’s better to look for reusable K carafe or K mugs, rather than conventional offerings. 

Apart from making the choice and size of brew, both coffee makers also have a hot water option. Choosing this setting makes these Keurig machines work as hot water dispenser coffee makers. Just make sure there isn’t a K cup in the socket!

Customization Options – Temperature, Brew Strength, And Programming

Keurig K475 and K575 both have several options that enable users to fine-tune the beverage to their liking. Its brew strength settings offer choices between regular and bold. As is evident, the hitting the “bold” setting gives you a stronger, bolder, brew.

Similarly, you can adjust the temperature setting to meet your preferences. Five temperature choices are available and can be used to brew your cup of java exactly to your preferences. 

Hitting the altitude setting will adjust the water temperature to a lower setting and prevent the problems caused by elevation.

Finally, and perhaps the most interesting one, is the programmable setting feature. For coffee makers that can brew a carafe, the programmable setting seems a rather useful feature. Users can set the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time every day. 

The coffee makers’ auto-on feature will bring it into action and have your coffee ready at the desired time. While this feature is present in both models, it is worth noting that it works only with the carafe setting. The auto-off feature can be programmed as well to conserve electricity and switch off the coffee maker at desired times.

In regular operation, the coffee makers will brew your K cup within a minute.

The DRM Clause – Are These Coffee Makers Locked To Keurig Pods?

Keurig, in an ill-advised fantasy, put in DRM for many models of the Keurig 2.0 line. This meant that only K cups from Keurig would work on these machines. It was a terrible choice and didn’t play well with the larger K cup ecosystem. More importantly, choices for customers were significantly lowered and limited to only a small number of K cups.

Thankfully, the experiment seems to be over. Apparently, Keurig silently removed the DRM from several machines, including the K475 and K575. There is an unclear official stance, but most users don’t report having to deal with DRM.

What’s My Pick – The Keurig K475 vs 575 Choice

Here’s one thing to know for Keurig K575 vs K475 – both models are at the end of their lifecycle. The K mug and K carafe pods are already nowhere to be found. Keurig is (seemingly) moving away from the touchscreen models, including these.

However, if you have previously enjoyed these models and are looking for a new one, now would be an excellent time to buy. 

Both these models are functionally similar and have pretty much the same innards. There are a few cosmetic and feature changes that might be worthy to consider. Here’s a quick refresher:

1. Keurig K575 has an 80 oz water reservoir, K475 reservoir is at 70 oz
2. K575 has a larger, 2.8-inch touch screen. The screen on K475 is 2.4-inch
3. K575 has customizable night light and touch screen wallpapers

I find the K575 to be more satisfying. The simple customizable touches like the night light and wallpaper are the winning aspects for me. Its larger water reservoir capacity may be useful to some, but that doesn’t necessarily make it superior to Keurig K475.

In this comparison of Keurig K475 vs K575, I’m in the corner of K575 simply for the cosmetic changes possible. Both machines make good coffee and there is no true functional aspect that separates them.
