Keurig K575 Review — The Biggest Of The 2.0 Line

One of the biggest stars of the Keurig 2.0 line, both literally and figuratively, the Keurig 575 has enjoyed a special place. This model highlights all the best qualities of Keurig 2.0, and also shows the lessons learned by Keurig. Let’s take a deeper look with our Keurig K575 review and see where this coffee maker stands.

Amongst the most notable qualities of the K575 is its ability to work with different pods. It can work with the K cup, K mug, and K carafe pods.

Quick Overview — What’s To Know About The K575

Pros

  • Large touchscreen display with customizable wallpaper
  • Night light
  • Easy to use controls
  • Programmable
  • Compatible with K cups, K mug, K carafe pods
  • Large 80 oz water reservoir
  • Controls for brew size, temperature, and brew strength

Cons

  • Small cord length
  • Takes up a fair bit of counter space

I’ll have to say that at this point, this Keurig 2.0 K575 review is more an academic exercise. While the Keurig K575 can still be bought at some stores, the company no longer manufactures this model. Additionally, the K mug and K carafe pods have been discontinued and are no longer available. If you already have a K575 or intend to buy one, consider looking into reusable pods.

The successor to this coffee maker is the Keurig K-Elite. Notice the lack of a touchscreen control on this model. Keurig has been moving away from touchscreens in favor of buttons. Contrary to some criticisms, this is not a step back. Why bother scrolling through a screen when you can hit a button and get your coffee? Plus, it makes the system relatively easier to maintain and clean.

Another alternative is the Keurig K1500 coffee maker. This one is billed as a sturdier, commercial coffee maker. Though it isn’t priced that much higher than the original K575, or the current K-Elite. The K1500 is a great pick for home use or a small office.

None of the new coffee makers work with K mug or K carafe pods. These pods have been discontinued and newer systems don’t need to make room for them.

Keurig 2.0 K575 Review — Notable Features Of This Coffee Maker

Customizable Night Light And Touchscreen Wallpaper

These seem like tiny, cosmetic changes, but they make a big splash. As I noted in the Keurig K475 vs K575 comparison, customizations are amongst the top reasons to like this machine. And that’s a good way to set it apart from comparable models like the K475.

Keurig K 575 has a night light that can shine to your preference of color. It’s a simple enough feature, but it looks awesome.

Aesthetics are perhaps the biggest reason why we buy anything. It looks cool and that’s good enough. Of course, the product should be functionally good too, but good aesthetics aren’t something to ignore.

The other interesting aspect is the 2.8-inch XL color touch display. The display works as the control panel. It is intuitive and easy to use, which adds to the convenience of using this coffee maker. Plus, the background or the wallpaper can be changed, so you get another touch of customization.

Again, these are cosmetic changes that don’t affect the functioning of the machine. If you’re not interested in such features, good enough. However, if you enjoy the touch of personalization and customization, the K575 is somewhat unique as a coffee maker with these offerings.

To change the color of the LED or the wallpaper, look for the “i” icon on the screen and go ahead with the changes you want.

About The Overall Design And Appearance Of K575

Keurig K 575 Coffee Maker

Overall aesthetics of this coffee maker are pleasing. It looks cool and stands on good ground where design is concerned. As already discussed, the touchscreen and LED are big components of this look, and they pay their dues well.

The overall construction is good quality and the machine looks fairly well-built with a careful design. Its buttons and controls are easily accessible, and the water reservoir can be handled easily. The only flaw seems to be the relatively short cord length.

Product dimensions are 10.43 x 13.63 x 13.45 inches. It’s not compact and will demand a good amount of counter space. However, with a water reservoir of 80 oz, the machine obviously needs some space for itself!

Performance Qualities Of The Keurig K575 – The Coffee Maker In Use

Brew Settings: Temperature, Strength, And Size

Keurig 2.0 K575 is compatible with K cups, K mug, and K carafe. As such, the coffee maker has to be very flexible with the brew size and match it to different requirements. It handles that role very well and can deliver your brew in multiple sizes.

PodKeurig K575 Brew Size
K Cup4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 oz
K Mug12, 14,16 and 18 oz
K Carafe22, 26 and 30 oz

There are five temperature settings available to further adjust the brew to your liking. This also allows the coffee maker to use a “high altitude setting”. Since the water boiling temperature changes with altitude, many coffee makers don’t work well at higher altitudes. Settings in the Keurig 2.0 K575 compensate for these changes to ensure that brew quality is maintained.

Users can also switch between regular and bold modes, to get the coffee of their preference. As the name implies, “bold” mode attempts to brew a stronger coffee.

Apart from coffee and related K cup options like hot chocolate, the machine can also be used to dispense hot water. It includes a special function for dispensing water on demand.

There are several models in the Keurig 500 line. While the model number changes, there is practically no change in the functioning of the coffee maker. Take a look at this Keurig 525C vs 575 comparison for a better understanding of these changes.

A Tale Of The Water Reservoir And Carafe Selection

K575 has a removable, 80 oz water reservoir. Being refillable makes it easy to clean, refill, and maintain. Rather than having to carry a mug to the coffee maker and risk dripping water, you can simply take the reservoir to the water and refill it.

You will need to use water filters with this model. The rationale is that the filter gets rid of any impurities or gases in the water so they don’t interfere with the taste of your coffee. The filter is placed at the bottom of the reservoir and cleans water as it passes to the coffee maker.

Two filters are included in the box with the coffee maker. You’ll have to purchase more as these filters get spent.

Considering that there are several choices for brew selection, the machine offers some flexibility. If you’re brewing a tall mug of coffee, the drip tray can be removed to make way for the travel mug. It’s a simpler and more efficient way than holding a tilted travel mug at the spout until it’s full. It’s certainly better than letting coffee pour into a carafe and then transferring it to the travel mug.

Speaking of carafes, you don’t get one with this coffee maker! Since it makes a big deal about brewing carafe-size coffee, including a carafe would make all the sense. But nope, Keurig would rather have you buy a carafe. And you’ll need to buy a Keurig carafe because otherwise the machine won’t take kindly to the carafe mode.

Brewing Your Cup Of Coffee And Ease Of Use

The USP for Keurig is perhaps the convenience of use. You place the pod, hit the button, and have your choice of brew ready in under a minute. K575 doesn’t disappoint in this category. Brewing your coffee is simple.

The ability to make changes to the brew comes in handy as well. If you so desire, you can customize the volume, temperature, and strength of the coffee.

Keurig K 575

If you’re brewing a carafe, you can rely on a programmable option. The machine will automatically come to life and brew you a carafe at the previously set time. No intervention required from the user!

Speaking of pods, there is the DRM aspect to consider for the Keurig 2.0 line. Initially, the company had made it so that only pods expressly allowed by Keurig would be accepted by the machine.

Customer outrage followed and Keurig quietly rolled back this policy. Going by most Keurig K575 plus reviews, it seems the machine no longer uses DRM systems.

Is This Coffee Maker Easy To Clean And Maintain?

Yes, or about as much as you can expect any coffee maker to be. You can clean the Keurig with white vinegar, using basic coffee maker cleaning techniques.

The company also offers cleaning solutions should you be more inclined to use those. Ideally, descaling should be done every 1-2 months, depending on your use of the coffee maker.

For general maintenance, just wiping it down with a damp cloth should work just fine.

Final Impressions Of The K575 Coffee Maker

The coffee maker pretty much lives up to its reputation. With our Keurig K575 review, the good qualities of this coffee maker are highlighted. It also becomes apparent how changes in Keurig’s vision have left this coffee maker behind.

If you’ve previously owned this coffee maker and want a new one to replace it, look for it now before it goes out of stock. The K575 has been discontinued, but it remains a capable coffee maker. And its fairly unique touch and customization make it more desirable.
