Keurig K Cup

Given its wider compatibility with Keurig machines, My K-Cup from Keurig is my choice for the best refillable K cup. There are plenty of options available for reusable K cups, but compatibility remains a problem. This reusable K cup will go along well with pretty much any Keurig machine.

It helps that the My K-Cup Universal Reusable K-Cup Pod Coffee Filter comes from Keurig itself. They’ve been careful to maintain and ensure compatibility. Also, there’s no reason to worry about quality. So these K cups are fairly reliable and easy to use – exactly what we want from reusable cups.

Review Of The 10 Best Reusable K Cup Contenders

1. Di Oro Max Brew K-Cup Reusable Filter for Keurig

DI-ORO-–-MaxBrew-24K-GOLD-K-Cup

Di Oro Max Brew K-Cup Reusable Filter has a pretty interesting filter and material choice. The filter is arranged in a honeycomb pattern and plated in 24K gold.

Using gold for the filter is an interesting choice. The metal is inert and does not add any flavor to the coffee being brewed. Similarly, it won’t absorb any oils or flavor from coffee either. That way, you get to enjoy a full-flavored cuppa that hasn’t been tainted by the filter.

According to the company, the honeycomb pattern helps with filtering and gives a better taste to coffee. To be honest, I’m not convinced by this claim. There is an argument that the shape of the filter affects the extraction and overall taste of the coffee. However, the same logic doesn’t essentially apply to honeycomb or some other shape.

It does make a pretty good cup of coffee though, so I guess they’re doing something right! It is a good product with a pretty good range of compatibility. It doesn’t go overboard with its price either, so I guess that’s another feather in its cap.

Highlights

  • Quality construction with good compatibility across Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 machines
  • Gold-plated filter doesn’t change the flavor or taste of coffee
  • Interesting honeycomb design on filter that may aid with extraction
  • Free from BPA, DEHP, lead
  • Top-rack dishwasher-safe

2. Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable K-Cup Pod Coffee Filter — Editor’s Choice

Keurig-My-K-Cup-Universal-Coffee-Filter

Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable K-Cup Pod Coffee Filter is an interesting and unique choice. This refillable K cup includes an adapter that changes its dimensions to fit various Keurig machines. It is this change that allows this filter to be “universal”.

This filter is designed to be compatible with all Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 machines, including Keurig Mini and Keurig Plus series models. If you’re not sure how to use this filter, check out our guide on how to use reusable K cups

There are two fill lines on the filter, representing a regular cup and a travel mug. Filling to the top lid means holding 13 grams, best for a 14 oz cup. The lower line is good enough for an 8 oz cup. There are four major components here:

  • Lid
  • Filter Basket
  • Filter Holder
  • Plus series brewer adapter

The adapter only needs to be used for the Keurig Plus series brewers. As such it is fairly easy to attach or remove the adapter. Always make sure that the lid is placed correctly and is locked. For some models, you may have to remove the pod-holder from the machine to make room for the My K-cup.

Highlights

  • Compatible with all Keurig home brewers
  • Quality construction
  • Expensive as compared to other reusable filters
  • BPA-free
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe

Compatibility

All Keurig K-Cup Coffee makers.

3. Froz Refillable/Reusable K Cups

Froz Refillable Reusable K Cups

While less flashy than other high-quality models, Froz Refillable/Reusable K Cups certainly have a good construction. These K cups have a largely plastic body with the filter mesh in the shape of fish-cutouts. I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time wondering if they’re dolphins or some other fish – I think they’re dolphins.

The very fine filter mesh is made from high-quality 18/8 stainless steel. This is food-grade steel that doesn’t add or absorb flavors to and from the coffee. The fine grind does a pretty good job of blocking coffee particles from flowing through.

Apart from coffee, this K cup can also be used with tea, cocoa, or other beverages. While it isn’t necessary, if you do switch beverages often, my suggestion is to use separate K cups for each.

Highlights

  • Quality construction
  • Food grade stainless steel doesn’t affect coffee flavor
  • Easy to use
  • BPA-free
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe

Compatibility

K200, K250, K300, K350, K360, K400, K450, K460, K500, K550, K560.

4. iPartsPlusMore Reusable K-Cup Gold Plated Mesh Coffee Filters

iPartsPlusMore Reusable K-Cup Gold Plated Mesh Coffee Filters

iPartsPlusMore Reusable K-Cup Gold Plated Mesh Coffee Filters tries to get the best of all worlds. It makes a serious attempt at using high-quality materials while staying at a very reasonable price. The filter mesh is made from steel and gold-plated so it doesn’t affect the flavor and taste of the coffee.

The quality construction allows these cups to be long-lasting while offering great quality at an attractive price. It performs well, but there are some compromises being made to strike the balance between quality and price. These K cups feel somewhat flimsy when compared to competitors like Di Oro Max Brew.

However, their performance isn’t measurably lower and there would be little cause for complaint. As a value for money option, these cups are tough to beat.

Highlights

  • Steel mesh with gold-plating
  • BPA-free construction
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe

Compatibility

Most models, including K200, K250, K300, K350, K360, K400, K450, K460, K500, K550, K560, K45, K75, B60, B70, B130, B140, B150, K40, B40, K60, B145, K150, K70, B30, K145, B44, K155, B155, B200 and B3000.

5. Maxware Reusable Refillable Coffee Filters For Keurig

Maxware Reusable Refillable Coffee Filters For Keurig

Maxware Reusable Refillable Coffee Filters For Keurig claims to be simple and economical for use. The large mesh is wrapped with a plastic body. The K cup works hard to ensure that the mesh doesn’t affect the flavor of the coffee.

It works pretty well with coffee as well as tea. It isn’t necessary, but it is good practice to keep separate pods for your coffee and tea needs. Given the low pricing and number of pods in the package, it is easy to use these for different beverages. Cleaning is easy and just a rinse with water should be enough for these reusable K cups.

Highlights

  • Good value for money
  • Easy to clean
  • Fairly durable

Compatibility

6. GoodCups Reusable K Cups for Keurig

GoodCups-Reusable-K-Cups

GoodCups Reusable K Cups for Keurig is another notable value for money option. The mesh is flanked by plastic to keep the cup in good shape. Given the amount of plastic used, it’s good to know that the cup is BPA-free.

Like other reusable Keurig cups with a similar design, the lid has a silicone ring. This helps it to stay shut and form a good seal while the coffee is brewed.

Highlights

  • Good value for money
  • Easy to clean
  • Durable
  • Doesn’t interfere with coffee flavor

Compatibility

K10, K15, K40, K45, K50, K55, K60, K65, K70, K75, K79, K130, K140, K145, K150, K155, K200, K250, K300, K350, K400, K425, K450, K475, B31, B40, B44, B45, B50, B60, B65, B66, B70, B71, B76, B77, B79, B130, B140, B145, B150, B155, B3000SE

7. K&J Reusable K-Cups

KJ-Reusable-K-Cups

Though the design and look are common with most other models, the construction of the K&J Reusable K-Cups feels sturdier. It forms a pretty good seal to ensure the grounds remain in place and the brewing process is convenient.

The filter here is micro-etched stainless steel. It works pretty well and does a good job of filtering and adds to the overall durability of this K cup. K&J Reusable K-Cups are not compatible with paper filters. Expect some fines in your drink since metallic filters can’t block these particles.

Highlights

  • Sturdy construction
  • Filter made from micro-etched stainless steel
  • Not compatible with paper filters

Compatibility

K31, K40, K44, K45, K50, K60, K66, K70, K77, K100, K135, K140, K300, K350, K400, K450, B31, B40, B44, B50, B60, B66, B70, B77, B100, B140, B200, and Elite,Classic, Ultra, Special Edition, Ultimate, and Platinum models.

8. Delibru Reusable K Cups

Delibru Reusable K Cups

These K cups do a pretty interesting job at presentation. Delibru Reusable K Cups make it seem like they’ve got it all figured out. They haven’t but they still are pretty impressive refillable K cups. The K Cups offer good value for money, stainless steel mesh, and quality construction.

Highlights

  • Quality construction
  • BPA-free
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe

Compatibility

Keurig K series, Keurig Elite, Classic, Ultra, & Special Edition, K-mini, Office Pro, Keurig Vue

Note: While it does work with many models, this sweeping claim of compatibility is somewhat questionable.

9. Perfect Pod ECO-Flow Stainless Steel Reusable K-Cup

Perfect Pod ECO-Flow Stainless Steel Reusable K-Cup

Perfect Pod ECO-Flow Stainless Steel Reusable K-Cup deserves special mention because these K cups are made from stainless steel. While other refillable K cups use a stainless steel mesh, these cups have a full stainless steel body. I’d be happier if the cap was entirely steel too, but we’ll take what we get.

One aspect of the full steel body is that the filter mesh is broader. Expect fines in your coffee, or better, use these with paper filters. The steel body means the cups can feel extremely hot, so give them some time after you’re done brewing.

The construction is fairly good and sturdy. However, the use of plastic at the hinge pretty much reduces the effective life of this product. Other than that, it is fairly reliable and can be expected to last a long time.

Highlights

  • Made from stainless steel, with some plastic used at the lid
  • Good quality construction
  • Large mesh size can cause grinds in the coffee

Compatibility

K15, B31/K10,  B40-B79: B40/K45, B44, B50/B60/K65 – Special, B66, B70/K75, B77, B79, K200 Series, K300 Series, K400 Series, K500 Series, K-Duo/K-Duo Plus/K-Duo Essentials, K-Elite (K90), K-Select (K80), K-Cafe (K84), K-Classic (K50/K55), K-Latte (K36), K1500, and K-Mini/K-Mini Plus.

10. Solofill K3 Plus

Solofill-K3-Plus

Solofill K3 Plus is one of the better known reusable K cups available. It can be the best choice for those who are unsure of which filter to pick. The mesh is enclosed in a BPA-free and sturdy plastic container.

The layering of the mesh prevents too many fines from making their way into the coffee. Also, the overall construction is sturdy and you can expect it to last a fairly long time. Solofill K3 Plus scores well on most metrics. The filtering is good, the cup is sturdy, it’s easy to clean, and works pretty well with Keurig machines.

Highlights

  • High-quality construction
  • Durable
  • BPA-free
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe

Compatibility

All 2.0 brewing systems, Keurig K250, K475, K575 and 1st generation Keurig K-Cup brewers. It’s a sweeping claim, but this K cup does work quite well with practically all models.

Compatibility Is A Big Deal — Check Before You Buy

Check your Keurig machine model number and make sure it is compatible with the reusable K cup you want to buy. Compatibility is a major issue when using K cups. A Keurig 2.0 reusable filter, for example, isn’t guaranteed to work with a Keurig Classic machine.

Many machines may simply refuse to work with reusable K cups. This is a real problem with older machines and budget K cups, where the sensor often fails to recognize compatibility.

In any case, it is a good idea to read reviews to be sure. If in doubt, ask the seller/manufacturer directly if their refillable K cup will work with your Keurig machine. If the website uses a public system like Amazon, you might get some snarky answers. Don’t mind them and you might get a definitive answer from the seller or manufacturer.

When in doubt, buy the reusable Keurig cup from established and well-recognized brands. They have a lower chance of being rejected by the machine’s sensor. Also, they’re more likely to last longer and have a better build.

For convenience, I’ve included models compatible with each K cup. Compatibility with the models are reported/claimed by the manufacturers, and in most cases, poses no problem.

Benefits Of Picking Reusable K Cups Over Conventional Pods

Refillable Cups Offer Better Value Than Conventional Pods

You will save money when using reusable cups. In a direct comparison, conventional pods are priced higher than an equivalent volume of coffee. Buying a pack of your favorite coffee is going to cost far lower than buying individual K cups for the coffee.

The good news is that most brands offer their coffee packaged as well. If you brew a few cups of coffee every day, the gains in cost will be visible pretty much immediately.

Besides, many pods are priced to offer great value. There are also some hacks to make your own K cups, but I’ll strongly suggest against using them.

Reusable K Cups Are Better For The Environment

Single-use plastics are bad. And K-cups are significant contributors to the mountains of plastics that occupy landfills. Moving to reusable cups significantly reduces your plastic waste footprint. Even if you use just 1-2 K cups daily, the numbers pile up for a month or year.

While many K cup manufacturers have tried to do better environmentally, the solutions aren’t quite there yet. Even if you’re using recyclable K cups or compostable K cups, there’s a good chance they never get recycled or composted. So rather than depending on things you can’t control, it’s better to make a conscious choice to reduce your footprint.

You Can Have Better Coffee

Reusable K cups are a good pick for stronger coffee. You can get that bold and strong brew simply by adding a higher amount of coffee to your K cup. The freedom to adjust the amount of coffee you use can work wonders in taste.

Pick the right coffee, and you could go head to head with the strongest K cup. Better yet, use a strong coffee in the K cup and customize it to your preferences. Though the possibility to use a larger amount of coffee is useful, avoid tamping or otherwise pressing the coffee. Also, keep the coffee content below the maximum line marking on the cup.

Another benefit is that you get to choose the coffee you like. You can use your own choice of beans, grind them fresh, and use them for the coffee. It’s pretty cool if you’re a hobby roaster working with unroasted coffee beans.

Quick Tips To Get The Most Out Of The Reusable Coffee Pods

Choose The Grind And Coffee

You can use fresh ground coffee with the reusable K cup. It’s more likely to be flavorful and delicious. While K cups don’t expire quickly and are designed to hold freshness, many of us still prefer freshly ground coffee. Consider using a medium or medium-fine grind with your reusable K cup.

Should I Use Paper Filters?

Most reusable coffee pods will likely let coffee fines into your cup. If you prefer a cleaner cup, consider adding paper filters to go along with the reusable K cups. Paper filters do a better job at fishing out finer grinds before they make their way to the cup. Paper is also very likely to absorb some oils from the coffee and affect its taste.

That’s not necessarily a negative. However, do consider your personal preferences before you choose to use a paper filter.

Be Mindful Of The Filter And Mesh While Cleaning Reusable Pods

A reusable K cup can be used as long as the filter is intact and its shape is not deformed. However, the mesh filter can be somewhat fragile, especially when cleaning or filling coffee. Whenever you’re handling the K cup, be gentle to the mesh, so it can last longer.

Getting A Reusable K Cup Is The Smart Choice

As we see, getting the best reusable K cup is the smart play. It works well for everything ranging from the budget to taste and environmental factors. My recommendation is the Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable K-Cup Pod Coffee Filter. You can also consider the Solofill K3 Plus and Di Oro Max Brew K cups. For a budget option, consider iPartsPlusMore Reusable K-Cup.
